What have we been up to?

We took out dog, Buddy walking one day. Buddy is one if the best dogs that I have ever had. We adopted him from the pound two years ago. He got sick and we almost lost him. Since then, he is a loyal dog. Even when Eric tried to give him a haircut and it was terrible.

This afternoon we went to my niece, Hannah's 3rd birthday party. She was so excited!

I tried to get a picture with the birthday girl, but Allie wanted in it too. Crazy girl!

Motivation Monday

I'm joining up with the sweet ladies for Motivation Monday.  This has kept me motivated and accountable.  Some things that I'm working on for this week:

1.  Drink more water.  I do good for a day, then crave a diet coke so badly.  Someone suggested drinking seltzer water to ease the craving. I am willing to try anything.   I think stress plays into my craving, as well.

2.  Cook at home and trying new recipes.  This has been challenging.  My husband will eat anything, but my kids are very picky.  I need to research new creative recipes that they will like.

3.  My self esteem.  Lately, I have been comparing myself to everyone.  Which I know not to do.  I am blessed with my family, and I have no reason to be unhappy.

4.  Exercising.  We are all doing great with this one.  We have been to the track as a family 3 - 4 times a week. We are planning  to run the Color Me Rad race together.  This has a been a great experience for our family.

5.    Eating more veggies.  Fruit is not a problem for us to eat - just expensive.   I have stopped buying potato chips and cookies.  If it's not in the house, then we can't eat it.

I look forward to reading everyone's tips for this week.  I learn so much each week.

Motivation Monday #2

I'm having trouble with my laptop so I'm blogging from my phone. Last week went pretty good. I still need to drink more water.

I did cook at home, but I need to step it up to more healthy cooking.

As a family, we started running at night. It has gone so well. We are enjoying the running as well as each other's company.

I'm looking forward to trying a leg workout during the days we are not running. It is a dancer workout. I took dance for 13 years and I loved every minute of it.

My husband said he has lost 4 pounds. Woot woot! Why do men lose weight so much faster?!?!? But that is encouraging.

Thanks to all who commented last week. You all have motivated me and inspired me do much!

Motivation Monday

I'm linking up for my first Motivation Monday.  Hopefully, this will keep me motivated and accountable.  I have known for some time, that we need to change our eating habits.  We eat out entirely too much - especially fast food.  It was just the easy way to go.  My husband and I both work full time and when we get home, the last thing we want to do is cook.  We also don't meal plan so when we get home we stare at the fridge or cabinets because we have no idea what to cook.

Last week at the beach, my husband made the comment that both kids (age 9 and 11) have a belly now.  My kids are in all kinds of activities so the only thing I can figure is the poor eating habits.  We drink a lot of sweet tea.  I drink a lot of Diet Pepsi.  We eat a lot of French fries.  Our eating habits are kicking our butts!  I am always tired.  ALWAYS!  Here is my plan for this week:

1.  To eat at home as much as possible.  I wrote down a couple of meals, but if worse comes to worse, a PB & J sandwich would be better than McDonalds.

2.  To consume more water.  My daughter does whatever I do.  So if I drink water = then she will.

3.  Buy veggies and fruit for snacks and no chips or cookies.

4.  To get my kids in the kitchen helping prepare the meals.  Hopefully, this will make them want to try it, if they help make it.

5.  To get both kids a doctor's appointment for their yearly physical.  Both are healthy so we normally only see the doctor once or twice a year.

I am trying to start small so that I can actually accomplish this goal of healthy eating.  I hope I have good news next week when I link up.  I have learned so much from Wendy at http://www.dailydoseofdelsignore.com/.  She is truly an inspiration to me.

Day 3 and 4 at Orange Beach

Corbin found a baby crab.

Eric found a huge umbrella while in the ocean. The lifeguard told us he finds all kinds of things. I guess it makes up for Eric losing his sunglasses when a wave took him out. Lol!

Eric and the kids made a sand lobster!

I took lots of picture with my real camera. Hopefully, I will post them soon. Over all, this was a great vacation even with my injury!

Never open a can with your finger! You will cut yourself and get stitches!
