Football time

Allie is loving cheering with the middle school girls!

He's bored. He wants to play, but 5th graders can't! Maybe next year!

So Blessed!

Right now,  I am on such a mountain.  Everything is going so great in my life.  I know I need  to enjoy it because it won't last.  That's life.  We have mountains and unfortunately, valleys.  This past Sunday, Corbin got saved!  Praise the Lord.  We were sitting in the night service listening to the preacher preach.  I looked at Corbin, and he was crying. I asked him what was wrong.  He said, "I don't want to go to Hell."  I said remember you got saved at age 5 so you won't.  Corbin said I didn't really understand what that meant until now.

So I told him how to get saved.  He had to admit he was a sinner.  He had to believe that Jesus died on the cross and rose in three days.  Jesus is still living right now.  He had to ask Jesus to come into his heart.  He bowed his head and prayed.

I asked him a few minutes later if he was okay. He was smiling.  I asked him why he was so happy, and he replied, " I just got saved."   I can't think of anything better than leading your own child to the Lord.

Last year, we all had such a hard year.  Eric was traveling a lot.  Corbin started 4th grade, and it was very tough.  I had a rough 8th grade group and administration that was not helpful.  I thought about leaving the teaching profession. Eric was so supportive during this time.  But I prayed and prayed.  I asked God to show me if I was still needed in the teaching profession.

I got an interview and transferred to another school in the county.  It is much smaller than my previous school. My new principal is wonderful.  She treats us with utmost respect. The kids I teach now don't have as much as the kids from my former school.   And that's okay.  They listen to me.  They work hard on their assignments.  I just love them!

My new principal tells me almost every day how lucky they are that I am there.  But I think I am the lucky one!

What we did this weekend

We have had a full weekend of fun.  Corbin had a friend spend the night Friday night.  They were good until they decided to go" ring doorbells and run in our neighborhood."  One of the neighbors saw them and brought them home.  I love my neighbors.  Corbin and his friend were so embarrassed.  We made Corbin walk down to the neighbor's doorbell he rung and ran and apologize.  Lesson learned.

Saturday, we went to the Smoky Mountains and hiked.  This time we hiked the nature trail behind the Sugarland Visitors Center.

Allie found a tree to climb.  She is my adventurous girl!

We made Corbin climb the tree.  He is not adventurous at all.  He does not like to try new things.  He did not like it.  Ha!

We walked across several bridges.

Uncle John's cabin.  My kids are so silly!
It's so hard to imagine that people lived like this so many years ago, and some still do. We are so blessed in America.
This is one reason Eric does not make the blog much.  He acts goofy when I take his picture.

The highlight of the trip for Eric - seeing a wild turkey.

Your house will never be the same! Ha!

Looking forward to Fall

I love the fall season, and I cannot wait until it gets here.  Here are my top 5 reasons.

1.  Dancing with the Stars will be on!  I am so addicted to this show it is embarrassing.
It's the All Star season -  so a lot of my past favorites will be on it.  Like - Melissa Rycroft!  How cute is she!

2.  It's football time in Tennessee.  Hopefully, we will have a much better season this year.  We usually go to a couple of games and take the kids.

3.  I love sweaters, jeans, and boots.  I cannot wait to wear them!  I could live in cardigans!

4.  Allie is playing soccer again and her fall season starts in a couple of weeks.  So exciting!

5.  Last, my birthday is in October.  I don't love getting older, but I am thankful for my life.   I love celebrating with my family!

Meeting the Bates family

Our church had Homecoming services today and invited the Bates family to sing. The girls were so pretty and sweet, and the young men so handsome.

I took only one picture. Here is Allie, Addison and Lanie from church, with Allison Bates. She has such a pretty voice.

The picture turned out good for an iPhone picture! So glad that we got to meet them!

Their show will air on TLC Monday nights at 9. So excited to watch it!

I can't believe I said yes!

I just transferred to my new school after teaching for 14 years at my old school.  I thought I had learned to say, "No."  I thought I would remember -  always defer to Eric.  Meaning - I will have to check with my husband first.  Then, of course, I could blame him.  Ha!

Well, another teacher caught me off guard.  I was talking and having a good time after school.  She came up and asked if I would help with cheerleaders.  Betsy - I know you are laughing right now.  Ha!  What did I say?  Of course!

I did plan on going to most of the games anyway because I knew Corbin would want to.  She is a sweet lady, and the girls are very sweet.  There is only 11cheerleaders on the team.  So I think I will survive.  Most of the hard work is done anyway.  I just have to show up for some practices and to some of the games.

Now Allie is so excited.  She thinks she can just get on the field with the big girls.  I know I am creating a monster with her.  She is already planning on me coaching her cheer team in middle school.

Betsy - I knew you would get a kick out of this story!

Funny things that Allie has said lately

Allie is a lot like me.  We sometimes say things before we really think about what we are saying. Eric says that I have a whole lot of book smart, but no common sense at all.  Ha!  Last week, I took Corbin and Allie to see the movie, "Diary of a Wimpy Kid - Dog Days."  They both loved it.  It's a cute movie especially if you teach middle school like me.

When we were leaving the theater, Allie said is it called, "Diarrhea of a Wimpy Kid?"  I thought Corbin was going to die.  He could not walk because he was laughing so hard.  I started laughing with him, and Allie got very mad at us.  I calmed her down and apologized for laughing.

Then we were outside the theater walking to the car.  Allie looked up and saw a light flashing in the sky.  She said, "Well that's either an airplane or spaceship."  What?!?!  A spaceship?  Corbin and I didn't even have a respond to that one.  Ha!  Love that girl!

Thursday Wants

I have had my eye on a couple of things lately.  I am going to try and shop this weekend - or at least try on some stuff!

How cute are these!  When I took Allie to Justice last weekend, one of the salesgirls had these on with her dress and denium jacket.  She looked so cute!  Love them!

I love Ann Taylor Loft and love this trench on the website.  Hopefully, it will be in the store.  I really need to try it on!

One of the fashion blogs I stalk wore a pink pencil skirt all the time last year.  It amazed me how she took one skirt and wore it with lots and lots of different tops.  Love the color!

I am still not sure about colored jeans.  I am 38 and not sure if I can pull it off.  So I thought these colored ankle pants would be a perfect alternative!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

What I'm loving Wednesday . . . .. .

My new school . . . C will be going to my school this year since he is in 5th grade.  Last night, the school held an orientation night.  The students got to meet their teachers and then have pizza.  C liked every single one of his teachers.  I knew he would.  A was just there for the pizza!  Ha!

We were all laughing when my fellow colleague took this picture.  Allie told me my necklace didn't match!  Ha!  I told her I was going for the "pop" of color concept.

I am also loving how helpful and supportive my new colleague are.  I had been at my old school for 14 years, so change was hard.  My new coworkers have helped me feel so welcomed.

I am loving my new symposium.  I can't wait to learn how to use it!  Yea!

I am so excited about this school year!

A Very Random Picture Post

Well, I have been in the land if "getting back to school" mode. We went shopping this past weekend since it was tax free weekend in TN and got lots of goodies. I have been getting my room ready and I had some inservice, as well.
Eric was traveling to Idaho and this single parent thing is for the birds. Ha! He visited Yellowstone and sent me pictures. The pictures are good, but not as good as actually being there.

Beautiful scenery! Maybe one day we can take the kids!
Allie has had piano lessons. She is improving so much! She has a piano recital in December.

Here are some pictures I tried to take on Sunday. C and A didn't want to cooperate! Crazy kids!

They are growing up too fast!

American Girl

Last Christmas, we got Allie her first American Girl doll and some accessories.  I thought about it before last year, but she didn't really play with her dolls and I didn't want to waste the money.  The American Girl dolls are not cheap, and she usually followed her older brother around and played with him.

We got her the doll that looked like her - blond hair and blue eyes.  And, she loved it.  We also got her the ballerina outfit and flute.  I wanted the violin, but it was sold out.  Every year, they come out with a new girl.  This year's girl is McKenna - the gymnast.  Hello - the Olympics!  Ha!

With her allowance, Allie ordered McKenna's gymnastic outfit and crutches set.  It is adorable.  I might have been just as excited as Allie.  I have 3 brothers so I loved playing with my dolls when I was younger.  It was so strange that Allie did not seem that interested in them.  I am glad that she is enjoying making up stories about her dolls.  Hopefully, we can save these for her little girls one day!
