Last Sunday at Dollywood, we were standing in line for a ride. Two girls - I would say 8th or 9th grade - were in front of us. On their shirts, they had B**ch 1 and B**ch 2. My mouth dropped when I read their shirts. My husband was so mad and offended because we have a little girl. He talked very loud - so they could hear him - about how demeaning and derogatory that word is to women. Other people behind were talking about how they were offended. But some people in line ahead of us were laughing at their shirts. They were taking pictures of them in the shirts. Is it funny if young girls call themselves that word? I don't think so. I teach middle school where some girls just want attention so badly, they will let boys treat them any way. They will do things with boys at parties just to get attention. No shame or embarrassment at all. I am so thankful that my daughter has a strong male role model that treats her like a young lady. Thank you Eric!
These girls were not old enough to drive themselves to Dollywood. Some adult had to see what they had on. I wonder what did their parents think of their shirts. Did they laugh too? I would kill A if I caught her wearing a shirt like that. We had a great discussion with C and A about words and clothing appropriate clothing choices, as well.
On another note, I watched on my computer reruns of Melissa and Tye on CMT. It's Melissa from the Bachelorette and Dancing with the Stars.Love it and them! They are so cute and down to earth. I watched until about 2 in the morning. Love summer break! Ha!

School's out - It's officially summer!
Today, was the kids last day at school. We had awards day at my school so the students left at 11:25. It was bittersweet day with my 8th graders. Some of these students I had in 7th grade and 8th grade. I loved watching them mature over the past 2 years.
Allie got to meet her teacher for next year in 3rd grade. She only has 2 other kids from her 2nd grade class with her for next year. She seemed fine though. That is what I love about Allie. She does not let anything really bother her. If fact, this year Allie said she just does the best she can is school. If she doesnt' make 100, oh well. She tried her best. Ha! She is confident, positive, and optimistic young lady.
I am a worry wart. I worry about everything - which drives Eric and me crazy! Ha! I am afraid Corbin is just like me. He has such a big heart and is very empathic and compassionate about others. But he worries like crazy. C wants to go to a smaller school next year. Which Eric and I think might be best for him. We will just pray about it this summer.

Corbin's soccer pictures
Well, soccer season is over. I am kinda happy and sad at the same time. C's team had a mom take pictures and give every parent a disk to order whatever you wanted. Which was so nice of that parent. It took a lot of time to take individual and team pictures. Sabine - the parent - took several poses in the purple and white jersey. The pictures turned out great. I can't wait to order through Shutterfly.

Washington, DC
I just got back from a school field trip to Washington, DC. It was so much fun. We took 2 buses - a girls bus and a boys bus. That made it so easy. I had not been to Washington, DC since I was in middle school, so it was neat to see all of it again. Of course, we walked a lot. So the kids were tired at night. I was in charge of 8 teenage girls. They were so easy. I really missed my own kids, but I am grateful for the opportunity.

Mother's Day 2012
I have had an amazing Mother's Day this year. Allie, Corbin, and Eric baked me a cake. So I had cake for breakfast. Ha! Then we went shopping. When I have money to spend, I can never find anything I like. When I should not be shopping, that is when I find everything. So I did buy a pair of Teva sandals. But I don't know if I will really wear them. So I will probably take them back. Allie played one of her best friends in soccer Saturday. Allie and Madison were so funny. They are both very competitive and very good at soccer. But they tried to stay away from each other. That part was funny. Ha!
I am very proud to be the mommy of these two. I want to slow down time. It is moving way too fast!

Children's Museum of Oak Ridge
On Sunday, we went to my niece's birthday party at the Children's Museum of Oak Ridge. Corbin and Allie loved it. They got to roam throughout the different rooms and play. They loved the water works room. They may or may not have gotten into a water fight. Ha! There is also a huge doll house. I would have loved to have been able to play in that when I was little. I didn't get many pictures on my iphone. Happy 3rd birthday Emma! We love you

Confession
I have a confession. I am a crazy soccer mom. You know - the one that yells and screams. I am usually very quiet, but for some reason I go crazy during the games. Even Eric doesn't really yell as much as me. I am going to have to quiet down! Here are a few of my favorite soccer pictures.
I think I will have to get these pictures blown up and framed. The first one - Corbin is giving his friend congrats on scoring. The last one is Allie in motion. She is a scoring machine. Ha!

May the Fourth Be With You . . . .
Today at school, we celebrated "May the Fourth Be With You" We each showed different Stars Wars movies and discussed government and mythology. It was really a great day. A lot of the teachers wore Stars Wars shirts. One student borrowed her mom's Storm Tropper costume. I know she was hot - but that was kinda neat.
